French Hen is pattern #3 in the 12 Days Ornament series by mmmcrafts. Use the guide to inspire your own colour palette. This one is similar to the main photo on the pattern.
Seriously, this little hen is so cute!!
If you haven’t fallen down the mmmcrafts patterns rabbit hole, this is one amazing rabbit hole which I highly recommend. First run over to purchase the patterns directly from mmmcrafts on Etsy
You can use my colour guide to help you choose colours, I’m using the main photo as my guide, there are other variations in the pattern itself, and of course you can keep going and choose your own palette.
If you plan to hang them in a natural Christmas tree, you might like something that blends or contrasts with the dark green fir branches. If you have one of those nifty pink or white trees you might choose to add some glitter or metallic felt to add to the tree decor – honestly, I am now thinking that this might be oodles of fun to do. Growing up the mother of a childhood friend made an reusable ‘tree’ from a dead branch, which she spray painted white. While I am rambling away here on idea-overload, I am thinking that a nice branch that shows off the ornaments might be just the thing to do this year. As I blog so infrequently I don’t usually expect any comments, but if you feel like sharing how you plan to, or usually hang up your ornaments, I would love to know 🙂
